Top notes are the first impression. Middle notes shape the fragrance. Base notes linger longest and add depth.
Apply fragrance to moisturized skin and warm pulse points. Do not rub your wrists together. Layer perfume and body oil for longer wear.
Layering combines scents to create something personal. Start with the richer fragrance, then add the lighter scent one spray at a time.
Your natural oils, moisture level and temperature influence how fragrance develops. Always test on skin and allow time for the dry down.
Begin with scent families you enjoy. Test one or two at a time, wear each for a day, and start with a travel size.
Choose scents with a shared note or complementary moods. Apply the richer fragrance first and test one spray of each on skin.
Your nose can temporarily tune out a familiar scent. This is often called olfactory fatigue or nose blindness. Avoid adding extra sprays immediately. Step into fresh air or ask someone nearby whether they can still smell it.
Try warm pulse points such as the wrists, inner elbows and sides of the neck. Fragrance can also last longer on clothing, but test an unseen area first because some formulas may stain delicate fabric.
Heat can make fragrance project faster and make sweet notes feel stronger. Cold weather can soften projection. Start with fewer sprays in heat and build carefully when the temperature drops.
These labels generally describe fragrance concentration, with extrait usually the richest. However, the complete formula matters, so an EDP is not automatically stronger or longer-lasting than every EDT.
Begin on a blotter, then test your favorites on clean skin. Smell the fragrance after the opening settles, again during the dry down, and after several hours before deciding whether it belongs in your collection.
Too many strong fragrances can compete instead of blending. Start with two scents, look for a shared or complementary note, use one spray of each, and place them on separate pulse points while you test.
